Student scientists present!

Congratulations to UWL student scientists, Abigail Jahn, William Murphy, and Katie Peterson, who have been working with Dr. Kurt Rolfhus, Chemistry and Biochemistry,  on analyzing used tire materials spread on local playgrounds for contaminants.

On April 11 and 12, they presented their findings at the 27th Annual Meeting of the Midwest Society of Environmemtal Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC) meeting on April 11 and 12 in La Crosse. They won runner-up, but because the winner could not take funds, the students will receive funding to attend the national SETAC meeting in Ft. Worth, Texas in October.

On May 3, the students presented their research, "Assessment of Trace Metal Exposure from Ingestion of Play Surface Materials," at the UWL Research and Creativity Symposium.
